Carey, a former top fashion model who stands at 5'10" was well-liked by American fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is a distinguished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was brought up across the globe because of her father's work. The model began modeling for a part-time basis while she was at college at University of Colorado and caught the eye of a rep from the Ford model Agency in New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris prior to returning to New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she appeared on Glamour's, Vogue's and a variety of other magazines' covers. As she modeled as she studied in full-time a major in literature at New York University. She became more interested in acting and began taking classes in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she began her career on stage with a small character as a minor character in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent skiing, wind surfing and rock climbing. She also enjoys white water rafting.
