
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976, in Torrance, California. He grew up in southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School, where he was an outstanding player on the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez excelled in these games during his time at the University of California. He was the team's football coach to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez set the school record for bowl games with nine receptions. Gonzalez led the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of NCAA basketball tournament just a few months after. Gonzalez was then selected for the NFL Draft in 1997. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their 13th overall selection. Gonzalez played with the Chiefs from 1997 until the year 2008. The Chiefs sold Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. After Gonzalez's first NFL year, he caught not less than 59 of them each season.
